Sr. Trial Attorney (Insurance Defense)

Location: Washington - Seattle, 200 W Mercer Street. Preferred location is Seattle, WA or the Portland, OR area. The position may be hybrid or fully remote depending on location and includes frequent travel with occasional overnight travel.

Expected starting salary: $138,000–$206,000 annually. National salary range: $138,000–$243,000 annually.

What you will do

• Represent clients independently as lead counsel or as part of a litigation team in commercial and personal lines insurance matters.
• Manage caseloads across varying levels of complexity, severity, product lines, courts, and agencies.
• Develop factually, legally, and analytically sound case valuations and communicate updates to clients and claims partners.
• Apply trial advocacy, negotiation, technology, and proactive case-management practices.
• Monitor changes in law, local rules, technology, and procedural requirements affecting litigation strategies.
• Build professional relationships, expand case referral opportunities, and mentor junior attorneys and staff.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
• Active license in the state where the position is located.
• Typically more than eight years of relevant civil litigation experience in property and casualty insurance defense or subrogation.
• Significant litigation, trial advocacy, negotiation, analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organization, time management, decision-making, technology, and case-management skills.
• Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record; credit and/or background checks are required.
