Software Engineer (TypeScript Backend)

Location: Toronto, Canada; hybrid

What you will do

• Develop and maintain TypeScript microservices supporting subscription management, entitlement provisioning, usage metering, and CRM integrations.
• Build payment-processing and usage-metering integrations for invoice generation and consumption tracking.
• Implement event-driven billing workflows with Kafka or similar message platforms.
• Contribute to entitlement enforcement and provisioning workflows connecting sales contract events to live organization configurations.
• Write tested, maintainable code and participate in design discussions and code reviews.
• Monitor service health, improve operational reliability, and participate in the on-call rotation.

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience building backend services.
• Strong TypeScript and Node.js proficiency, ideally with NestJS or a similar framework.
• Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, REST APIs, and third-party integrations.
• Understanding of event-driven architecture, message-based systems, and distributed-systems concepts including eventual consistency, idempotency, and failure handling.
• Experience with multi-tenant SaaS systems, Kubernetes, cloud environments, CI/CD, and collaboration tools.
• Strong debugging skills, computer science fundamentals, and ability to trace data consistency issues across service boundaries.

Nice to have

• Experience with Stripe, Chargebee, Zuora, Metronome, Lago, or similar billing and usage-metering platforms.
• Familiarity with CRM-driven provisioning, Salesforce events, Snowflake, ClickHouse, Druid, or other analytics platforms.
• Knowledge of subscription lifecycle concepts, AWS, Infrastructure as Code, observability tools, Docker, Kafka, CDC, or Flink.
• Experience building internal admin tooling or lightweight internal UIs.
