Senior Engineering Manager (AI)

Location: Remote, U.S.; North Carolina Research Triangle or East Coast preferred. Applicants must be US-based and legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship.

Salary: $190,000–$225,000 per year base pay across the U.S.

What you will do

• Lead and develop multiple engineering teams through coaching, feedback, performance management, hiring, and talent development.
• Own execution and delivery, including planning, prioritization, dependency management, risk resolution, delivery tracking, and operating practices.
• Provide technical leadership for cloud-native backend services, microservices, architecture, reliability, and engineering quality.
• Establish operational ownership through on-call practices, SLOs, error budgets, incident response, postmortems, and reliability improvements.
• Partner with Product and Engineering leadership on discovery, priorities, capacity, technical trade-offs, and organizational planning.
• Champion AI-assisted development, automation, and workflows that improve solution exploration, planning, development, and productivity.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience in enterprise or SaaS environments.
• 4+ years of engineering or people management experience leading, coaching, and developing engineering teams.
• Experience leading multiple engineering teams or initiatives involving multiple teams and stakeholders.
• Experience owning production services, including on-call, SLOs, incident response, and postmortems.
• Strong Java/Kotlin development experience, cloud platform management and architecture experience, preferably with Azure, and knowledge of backend services and microservices.
• US-based status and legal authorization to work in the United States without employer sponsorship are required.

• Recent hands-on coding experience.
• Kubernetes and container orchestration experience.
• React framework experience.
• Experience designing reliable microservice architectures for distributed systems.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
