Director, Technical Program Management — Driver Out (Autonomous Vehicles)

What you will do

• Own the multi-year Driver Out program from initial driver-out demonstration through public-road product integration and minimal scaling.
• Build, coach, and lead the TPM organization, establishing the operating model and accountability across workstreams.
• Sequence critical-path dependencies, manage risks and trade-offs, and coordinate driving-model performance, behaviour validation, systems, vehicle hardware and software, remote assistance, and operations.
• Bring the safety case, functional safety, SOTIF, cybersecurity, and Safety Management System together into a credible driver-out readiness argument.
• Align engineering, science, safety, product, operations, OEMs, and Uber on scope, sequencing, and readiness.
• Establish governance, milestone reviews, launch-readiness reviews, KPIs, dashboards, escalations, and risk-budget management; report progress and readiness to executives.

Requirements

• 10+ years delivering complex, multi-year, cross-organizational technical programs, including director-level leadership and building program-management teams.
• Deep autonomous-vehicle or comparable safety-critical robotics experience, ideally involving driver-out or L4 systems.
• Experience with safety cases, behaviour validation, functional safety, ISO 26262, SOTIF ISO 21448, cybersecurity, and safety management systems.
• Ability to lead and develop high-performing teams and influence engineering, science, safety, product, operations, and external partners.
• Strong technical understanding of autonomy, machine learning, vehicle hardware and software, and systems engineering without requiring production coding.
• Systems thinking, product judgment, executive communication, risk management, and adaptability in ambiguous, fast-moving environments.

Nice to have

• Experience taking an autonomous-vehicle program to eyes-off or driverless operation, or launching a comparable safety-critical service.
• Experience collaborating with OEMs and mobility or ride-hail partners.
• An engineering or computer science degree, or prior engineering experience.
