Senior Product Engineer (Laravel/PHP)

Location: Remote-only and fully distributed; location is not a requirement. The ideal fit can work under European or American timezones, up to the East Coast. International contractor hiring is available; employee hiring is available for candidates based in the United States, European Union, or Australia.

Salary: USD 134,450–167,258.30 per year, depending on location and cost of living. US employee gross compensation: USD 123,993.09–154,249.72.

What you will do

• Develop new core platform features from 0→1 and iterate based on customer feedback.
• Build product workflows and user experiences that support short-term rental operations and customer growth.
• Collaborate with product, sales, customer success, and engineering colleagues to solve customer and business problems.
• Work in a monolithic Laravel codebase on Kubernetes-powered infrastructure-as-code.
• Implement observability, investigate post-deployment issues, and resolve high-impact performance, resource, and feature problems.
• Refactor core platform code to improve maintainability, testability, and clarity.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience focused on backend technologies.
• Significant production experience with Laravel, PHP 7+, MySQL, and testing pipelines in deployed web applications.
• Laravel experience is non-negotiable.
• Hands-on experience using agentic coding tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, Copilot, or similar in production.
• Strong written communication, empathy, self-motivation, and the ability to make decisions amid uncertainty.
• Ability to reason about complex systems, non-obvious usage scenarios, and ripple effects.

Nice to have

• Experience with queue- or job-centric backends.
• Experience building production systems where third-party API data ingestion is business-critical.
