Senior Software Engineer (TypeScript/Laravel)

Location: Denver, CO; Des Moines, IA; or remote within the United States

Salary: $120,000–$160,000 USD per year, plus a 10% annual bonus at 100% of plan targets.

What you will do

• Develop and ship features for ClearanceJobs.com, a career marketplace for security-cleared professionals.
• Work across Vue.js frontend applications, Laravel/PHP backend services, MySQL data layers, REST APIs, background workers, and Terraform-managed infrastructure.
• Build recruiter-facing candidate search and matching, workflow automation, job posting, messaging, and reporting capabilities.
• Own features end to end, from scoping with product and design through implementation, testing, code review, and CI/CD deployment.
• Improve development practices, code quality, testing coverage, technical standards, and platform robustness.
• Mentor peers, contribute to technical decisions, reduce technical debt, and influence the product roadmap through technical investments.

Requirements

• Strong proficiency with TypeScript and a reactive frontend framework such as Vue.js, React, or modern Angular.
• Hands-on experience with Laravel, PHP 8, REST API development, relational databases, migrations, and schema management.
• Familiarity with AWS services including EC2, Lambda, API Gateway, S3, SES, and CloudFront.
• Experience with end-to-end, integration, and unit testing, CI/CD pipelines, Docker, containerization, and Git workflows.
• Understanding of state management, component architecture, authentication and authorization, OAuth, SSO, sessions, and secure programming practices.
• Ability to collaborate in an agile environment, troubleshoot issues, analyze bugs, make technical decisions, and use AI tooling with sound judgment.

Nice to have

• Recruitment, HR, or ATS domain knowledge.
• Experience with real-time features, WebSockets, complex form workflows, and dialog or modal UI patterns.
• Experience with Elasticsearch or OpenSearch, large-dataset rendering, observability, and analytics tools.
• Experience using AI coding assistants across implementation, code review, testing, and debugging.
