Controls & Electrical Engineer I (Automation)

Location: On-site in Hauppauge, New York, United States

Annual salary: $77,000–$90,000, plus eligibility for bonus or incentive pay.

What you will do

• Analyze manufacturing processes and identify opportunities for automation, efficiency, and OEE improvements.
• Support the development of new processes, technologies, and equipment.
• Update electrical and control system schematics, control narratives, and standard procedures.
• Write, test, and debug PLC and HMI control logic under the guidance of senior engineers.
• Troubleshoot electrical, control, and process-related issues.
• Support validation, installation, commissioning, and startup activities for automation projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, controls engineering, automation engineering, computer engineering, or a related field.
• Experience in electrical, controls, or automation engineering; co-op or internship experience is acceptable.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively and communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Willingness to learn, take direction, and develop increased technical responsibility.

Nice to have

• Internship or co-op experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Knowledge of electrical concepts, control systems, NEC requirements, and automation safety standards.
• Ability to read and develop electrical schematics; AutoCAD experience is preferred.
• Familiarity with PLC-controlled equipment and industrial components such as sensors, VFDs, motors, relays, and PLC I/O.
