Controls Engineer (Manufacturing)

Location: North Mankato, Minnesota, United States; occasional travel within the U.S. for installations and site visits.

Annual salary: $70,000–$90,000.

What you will do

• Plan and schedule engineering work safely and cost-effectively while maintaining project timelines.
• Design conveying systems, instruments, controls, robots, machines, and related electrical systems.
• Analyze plant processes and implement operational improvements.
• Troubleshoot hardware and process issues.
• Maintain electrical and pneumatic schematics, panel layouts, PLC and HMI programs, robot programs, and vendor control documentation.
• Coordinate equipment purchases and inventory while collaborating with mechanical engineers, electricians, operations, and machine shop staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or a related field.
• At least one year of PLC programming experience in a manufacturing environment, including writing and editing PLC programs and HMI user interfaces.
• Experience using CAD software to create electrical prints.
• Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and relationship-management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, work autonomously, and self-direct.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Print industry experience.
• Experience with Autodesk and Allen Bradley.
• Knowledge of NFPA 79 and ANSI B11.19.
