Controls Engineer

Location: Taunton, Massachusetts, United States; onsite in an industrial manufacturing plant

What you will do

• Manage, monitor, install, configure, and maintain plant systems, operating systems, application software, and system management tools.
• Develop, debug, document, and improve PLC control logic and control systems for complex manufacturing equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair machinery, electrical systems, motor controls, AC/DC drives, VFDs, PLCs, and relay-based systems.
• Develop and maintain control system, electrical, PID, and manufacturing equipment drawings.
• Provide engineering direction and technical support to maintenance and production teams.
• Manage assigned engineering projects, including estimates, design, specifications, procurement, installation, startup, cost control, safety, and implementation.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of experience in a systems engineering role.
• Advanced computer skills, including PLC programming.
• Advanced knowledge of AC, DC, and VFD motor controls, PLC systems, and relay-based systems.
• Ability to read and create PID drawings and implement control devices from engineered drawings.
• Ability to read electrical schematics, drawings, and technical literature and troubleshoot equipment to the component level.
• Ability to work onsite in an industrial manufacturing environment, climb stairs and ladders, and work in varying seasonal temperatures; extended hours may be required.

Nice to have

• Experience with Wonderware.
• 10 years of experience installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining application software and control systems.
• BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Electrical Systems, Control Systems, or a related field.
