Senior Software Engineer, Frontend - D&I Solutions (React)

Location: United States, remote. If located near a Planet office, work from that office 3 days per week.

Salary: $160,600–$200,800 USD annual base salary for the US national range. Additional New York City, California, and San Francisco ranges apply.

Planet designs, builds, and operates a constellation of imaging satellites and a cloud-based platform that provides satellite-derived data for commercial, environmental, and humanitarian applications.

What you will do

• Design and implement frontend features for a near-real-time monitoring and analytics application.
• Develop and maintain frontend applications with React and TypeScript.
• Drive frontend architecture, component design, and state management decisions.
• Contribute to backend systems and REST APIs when needed.
• Mentor engineers through code reviews, technical discussions, and knowledge sharing.
• Collaborate with product managers and designers to deliver customer solutions.

Requirements

• 10+ years of relevant experience developing web applications.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Professional working proficiency in English.
• Strong experience with React, JavaScript or TypeScript, component-based architecture, state management, and data fetching.
• Experience with REST APIs, HTML, CSS, and responsive design.
• Ability to lead feature implementation from discovery through deployment and mentor teammates on frontend best practices.
• Ability to access applicable export-controlled information without additional export licensing.

Nice to have

• Experience with monorepo tooling or large-scale frontend architectures.
• Experience with mapping libraries or data visualization tools.
• Experience with modern testing frameworks, CI/CD practices, or AI productivity tools.
• Background in geospatial technologies, remote sensing, or the defense and intelligence sector.
