Software Engineer, Platform Operations

Location: United States, Remote. Employees located near a hirify.global office are expected to work from that office 3 days per week.

US base salary: $127,000–$158,700 nationally; $136,000–$170,000 in New York City and California; $144,500–$180,600 in San Francisco.

hirify.global designs, builds, and operates imaging satellites and a cloud-based platform that provides Earth observation data to commercial, environmental, and humanitarian users.

What you will do

• Design and implement secure, scalable Infrastructure-as-Code solutions.
• Drive platform modernization, including migration from legacy tooling to new solutions.
• Manage Kubernetes clusters, GKE, cloud infrastructure, and related platform tooling.
• Improve observability with Grafana and other tools, establish Service Level Objectives, and strengthen operational readiness.
• Build and maintain platform services such as the public API gateway and managed infrastructure solutions.
• Partner with software engineering teams to improve the internal developer experience.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience in platform engineering, system administration, DevOps, or SRE.
• Deep understanding of Kubernetes, Linux, and underlying compute systems.
• Working knowledge of GCP or AWS and experience with cloud-based infrastructure.
• Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitLab or ArgoCD, configuration management such as Terraform or Crossplane, and GitOps principles.
• Experience building services with Go or Python using Git, Docker, and CI/CD workflows.
• Strong troubleshooting, operational, collaboration, and written and verbal communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience developing or operating core platform systems or open-source infrastructure projects.
• Experience maintaining highly available infrastructure at very large scale or across multiple clouds.
• Practical experience with networking and network architectures.
• Experience with observability tools and best practices.
