Staff Platform Infrastructure Engineer (AI)

Location: USA - Remote; up to 10% travel. The role is part of the Chief Scientific Officer Office located in Washington, DC.

Annual salary: $180,000–$220,000, plus bonus or incentive pay.

What you will do

• Build, automate, and operate scalable cloud infrastructure across AWS, GCP, and Azure using Infrastructure as Code.
• Design and maintain secure, consistent CI/CD pipelines for internal engineering teams.
• Develop a self-service platform that enables data scientists and engineers to provision compute, data, and ML resources.
• Embed security, data governance, quality, and compliance into platform capabilities.
• Establish observability, monitoring, alerting, support tiers, and reliable production operations.
• Drive technical standards and architecture decisions, collaborate with cross-functional leadership, document solutions, and mentor engineers.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software, platform, or infrastructure engineering experience, including hands-on data or AI/ML infrastructure work.
• Deep expertise with at least one major cloud platform and working familiarity with multi-cloud data and AI services.
• Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD tooling, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Proficiency in Python, Go, or Bash for automation and tooling.
• Knowledge of cloud security and networking fundamentals, production monitoring, observability, incident response, and reliability practices.
• Ability to set technical direction at platform scale, establish standards, make architecture decisions, and mentor engineers.

Nice to have

• Experience in life sciences, diagnostics, or biotechnology.
• Experience with HIPAA, GxP, SOX, or other regulated-industry compliance and data governance requirements.
• Experience working in a matrixed environment.
