Senior Data Engineer (Geospatial)

Location: Hybrid in Washington, DC or Denver, CO; office attendance required three days per week.

Salary: $160,600–$200,800 USD annual base salary, plus potential short- and long-term incentives.

hirify.global designs, builds, and operates a large constellation of imaging satellites and provides cloud-based Earth observation data for commercial, environmental, humanitarian, defense, and intelligence applications.

What you will do

• Architect and oversee high-availability data pipelines and production-scale data ecosystems.
• Design and execute long-term data strategies for global monitoring products with product, commercial, and engineering stakeholders.
• Build end-to-end data solutions from architecture and implementation through CI/CD, orchestration, automated QA, and production integration.
• Establish standards for code quality, troubleshooting, optimization, and data integrity.
• Lead technical design reviews and mentor engineers across the Data Team.
• Develop data systems supporting persistent monitoring, active intelligence, and defense-sector decision-making.

Requirements

• 10+ years of relevant data engineering experience with technical leadership.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Expert Python and SQL skills for complex ETL/ELT pipelines, including event-driven architectures.
• Experience designing global-scale, customer-facing data architectures and maintaining enterprise-grade peer-reviewed codebases.
• Advanced CI/CD experience with GitLab CI, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Experience with cloud-native architectures, preferably GCP, and tuning Parquet storage for sub-second query performance.

Nice to have

• Experience with dbt and Terraform.
• Experience architecting solutions for geospatial datasets.
• Knowledge of Earth observation or satellite operations.
