Software Engineer, Missions Software (Python)

Location: Remote in Canada or the United States. If located near a hirify.global office, work from that office 3 days per week.

Salary: CAD 82,000–102,500 annual base salary, with potential short-term and long-term incentives.

hirify.global designs, builds, and operates a large constellation of imaging satellites and provides cloud-based satellite data for commercial, environmental, and humanitarian applications.

What you will do

• Maintain and extend automation and services responsible for satellite operations.
• Specify and implement new HTTP APIs and improve existing interfaces.
• Evaluate software technologies and design and deploy critical infrastructure.
• Build, maintain, and operate Mission Control tools and distributed microservices for spacecraft scheduling, tasking, and telemetry processing.
• Collaborate with Satellite and Ground Operations, Pipeline, and Product teams to support the satellite constellation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, or a similar field.
• 2–3 years of relevant professional experience.
• Professional experience with Python, API design, relational databases, automated testing, code review, and documentation.
• Experience maintaining peer-reviewed code and continuous integration and deployment workflows using tools such as GitLab CI and Docker.
• Proficient Linux skills and the ability to communicate and collaborate across functions.
• Ability to access applicable export-controlled information without additional export licensing is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with AWS or GCP cloud infrastructure and tooling.
• Experience with Ansible, Kubernetes, Terraform, or similar infrastructure technologies.
• Experience with monitoring tools such as Datadog or Sentry.
• Experience working in microservice environments.
• Knowledge of aerospace concepts.
