Lead Plant Operator - Renewable Natural Gas (Cottonwood)

Location: Marissa, Illinois, United States; onsite at the Cottonwood RNG facility. The role requires occasional night and weekend shifts, 40–50 hours per week, and participation in rolling 24/7 callout schedules.

Salary: $38.00–$40.00 per hour, with a bonus for eligible positions.

What you will do

• Direct and supervise daily operations at the Cottonwood renewable natural gas facility.
• Support construction, commissioning, and startup of the site.
• Operate, monitor, adjust, and repair blowers, gas pretreatment, chilling, CO2/N2/O2 removal, and compression equipment.
• Coordinate maintenance tasks, preventive maintenance outages, inventory, vendors, and outage planning.
• Schedule operators, cover shifts, manage callouts, and maintain production, equipment, and service records.
• Maintain safe, clean, and environmentally compliant plant operations, including monitoring gas composition and operating conditions.

Requirements

• 7+ years of renewable gas production industry experience preferred.
• Mechanical skills with basic electrical knowledge and troubleshooting experience.
• Experience with pumps, blowers, air compressors, pressure, vacuum, and flow systems.
• Recordkeeping, logging, general troubleshooting, computer, and Microsoft Office skills.
• Self-motivated ability to work with little or no supervision; fabrication and basic process knowledge.
• Current and valid unrestricted driver’s license; ability to perform physical work including lifting 10–50 pounds, climbing, kneeling, and operating hand and power tools.

Nice to have

• Heavy equipment operations experience, including gas turbine and gas compressor operations and maintenance.
