Plant Operator (High-Pressure Steam)

Location: Valhalla, New York, United States; onsite work at a 24/7/365 high-pressure steam plant with a 12-hour rotating shift schedule.

Salary: $33.65–$48.80 per hour, plus benefits and potential performance incentives.

What you will do

• Operate and maintain a gas- and oil-fueled high-pressure steam facility with boilers, chemical feed systems, turbines, pumps, and related equipment.
• Monitor plant conditions through frequent rounds, control systems, operating parameters, shift logs, and daily reports.
• Follow standard operating procedures for plant start-up and shutdown and ensure safe, reliable steam and hot-water generation.
• Maintain compliance with environmental permits and company and customer safety requirements.
• Coordinate with subcontractors and equipment service providers and handle customer trouble calls.
• Perform shift turnovers, housekeeping, on-call duties, and other assigned operational tasks.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
• At least 2 years of equipment experience using mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, or control-system skills.
• Valid United States driver’s license and a high-pressure steam operator license issued by any U.S. state.
• Knowledge of steam production, associated plant equipment, AC/DC electricity, and arc-flash hazards.
• Basic computer skills with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work rotating shifts.
