Project Engineer (Civil Construction)

Location: Baltimore, Maryland, with regular and extensive travel within the project geographic region for 5–7 months per year; overnight travel is expected.

What you will do

• Plan, direct, and coordinate civil industrial and large-scale utility projects.
• Review plans and specifications, inspect construction sites, and monitor progress against engineering, construction, and safety standards.
• Develop and maintain project schedules using CPM scheduling tools, including monthly schedules and two-week look-ahead plans.
• Track job costs, productivity, quantities, income, budgets, billings, invoices, and cash-flow projections.
• Coordinate submittals, working drawings, subcontractor requisitions, vendor invoices, change orders, and claims.
• Maintain project records, compliance documentation, utility notifications, and communication with project teams, owners, subcontractors, and suppliers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management from a four-year college or university.
• At least 2 years of experience in a related field.
• Field experience inspecting construction sites and verifying conformance with plans, specifications, and safety standards.
• Proficiency with spreadsheets, word-processing tools, Microsoft Office, project management software, and CPM scheduling programs such as Primavera Project Planner.
• Experience with cost and productivity data, job-cost management, budgeting, and project financial reporting.
• Strong written and verbal communication, analytical, mathematical, organizational, and practical problem-solving skills.
