Specialist, Quality Engineer (Mainframe Testing)

Location: Hybrid opportunity with preferred locations in Columbus, Ohio, or Des Moines, Iowa. A remote environment may be considered based on skills and experience.

Salary: $95,500–$177,500 annually; expected starting range: $95,500–$143,500.

What you will do

• Plan and execute functional, integration, regression, performance, exploratory, and end-to-end testing for Personal Lines Billing systems.
• Execute, monitor, and validate Mainframe batch jobs, processing results, job sequencing, and expected billing behavior.
• Query DB2 with SQL to validate billing transactions, account and policy states, backend data, and downstream results.
• Create and maintain automated tests with Playwright, Tosca, low-code/no-code tools, AI-assisted test generation, and light scripting.
• Develop performance tests with JMX and load-testing scripts to evaluate capacity, scalability, and application behavior.
• Manage defects through resolution, coordinate release validation, maintain traceability, and partner with developers, analysts, product owners, architects, and testers.

Requirements

• Experience testing Mainframe-based applications and navigating batch-processing environments.
• Strong DB2 SQL, backend data validation, data reconciliation, and root-cause analysis skills.
• Experience with Playwright or a comparable web test automation framework and Tosca or similar low-code/no-code tools.
• Knowledge of performance testing, JMX, load-testing scripts, test planning, regression testing, test data, and test environment management.
• Four or more years of experience with test optimization and automation processes and tools.
• Strong analytical, written, verbal communication, prioritization, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, or a related field.
• TOSCA Automated Specialist 1, TOSCA Automated Specialist 2, or related certifications.
• Insurance or financial services industry knowledge.
