Senior Certification Engineer (BESS)

What you will do

• Drive certification strategy and execution across battery energy storage system products.
• Lead UL 9540 compliance planning, testing, standard interpretation, and closure of certification findings.
• Coordinate compliance testing with engineering teams, test laboratories, and certification agencies.
• Support fire safety and system-level hazard evaluations, including thermal runaway testing and interpretation of UL 9540A and LSFT results.
• Perform certification gap analyses for new designs, supplier changes, and engineering revisions.
• Investigate test failures, define corrective actions, communicate certification risks, and mentor engineering teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or systems engineering.
• At least 3 years of compliance engineering experience.
• Experience managing cross-functional product compliance projects and mentoring junior team members.
• Experience with energy storage safety standards, including UL 9540, UL 9540A, LSFT, UL 1973, and NFPA 855.
• Strong communication, collaboration, analytical, and risk-identification skills.
