Senior Manager, AI Engineering

Location: Chicago, IL — Chicago/Aon Center

Base salary: $120,800–$151,000 per year, plus eligibility for a performance-based bonus.

What you will do

• Lead, coach, and develop a team of AI engineers delivering Generative AI and agentic solutions.
• Own the AI engineering strategy and roadmap across multiple business units and functions.
• Translate business requirements into system architecture, solution flows, and configuration specifications.
• Recommend reusable architecture patterns, model-selection strategies, and engineering approaches for LLMs, RAG, agentic workflows, and context engineering.
• Drive evaluation, error-analysis, and Responsible AI practices to improve the predictability and trustworthiness of non-deterministic systems.
• Communicate progress, trade-offs, risks, and architecture decisions to business, technology, senior, and executive stakeholders.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, information technology, or a related field, or a bachelor’s degree with equivalent professional experience.
• Relevant experience in AI/ML, software or solution architecture, or technical leadership, including leading or mentoring engineers.
• Hands-on experience building and deploying GenAI solutions such as chatbots and agents on a major cloud platform, preferably Microsoft Azure.
• Experience translating business requirements into technical design documents and system configurations.
• Working expertise with LLMs, RAG, prompt and context engineering, agentic workflows, and LangGraph, supported by evaluations and error analysis.
• Strong software engineering, stakeholder management, communication, and technical-business alignment skills.
