AI Engineering Manager (AWS/Azure)

Location: Chicago, United States; remote work indicated by the #LI-REMOTE designation.

Base salary: $140,000–$170,000 USD per year. Total estimated compensation including annual incentive compensation: $168,000–$204,000 USD.

What you will do

• Build full-stack AI features on AWS and Azure using Claude and other models.
• Work directly with business users inside a pod to build solutions around their needs.
• Develop tests and evaluations for everything that ships.
• Implement agreed solution designs and identify gaps or missing considerations.
• Set engineering standards within the pod and support less experienced engineers.

Requirements

• 5–8 years of experience building software or AI, including 1–2 years in a leadership capacity.
• Python and TypeScript experience across backend and modern frontend development, including React or similar.
• Production experience with RAG and AI agents.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, REST APIs, and enterprise data integration.
• Experience deploying and operating cloud-native workloads on AWS or Azure.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Nice to have

• Experience with agentic DevOps tooling, agentic coding tools, or evaluation-driven pipelines.
• Experience with vector databases and LLM observability in production.
• Infrastructure-as-code experience with Terraform or Bicep.
• Healthcare or higher education experience, including HIPAA or FERPA environments.
• AWS Machine Learning Engineer – Associate or Azure AI Engineer Associate certification.
