Process Controls Engineer

Location: Hybrid work in the Baton Rouge / Geismar, Louisiana area, with approximately 5% travel to other North American locations

What you will do

• Provide process control systems engineering support for production facilities in the Baton Rouge / Geismar region.
• Support daily operation, modification, and optimization of DCS, SIS, and PLC automation systems.
• Implement changes to control logic, HMI systems, databases, and technical documentation.
• Plan control-system lifecycles, preventive maintenance, upgrade migrations, and obsolescence resolution.
• Conduct root cause analyses and improvement projects with automation vendors and site personnel.
• Improve plant safety, reliability, industrial cybersecurity, and operating costs.

Requirements

• Degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering and 5+ years of experience in process automation systems and/or instrumentation engineering.
• Experience supporting control systems in industrial facilities, including instrumentation and automation changes.
• Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and reliable personal vehicle required.
• Must be legally eligible to work in the US without current or future sponsorship.
• Ability to collaborate with process controls engineers, process engineers, managers, technicians, vendors, and operating staff.

Nice to have

• Hands-on knowledge of DCS and PLC systems, preferably Siemens PCS7 or ABB 800xA.
• Knowledge of field instrumentation, valves, transmitters, and level, temperature, pressure, and flow measurement.
• Understanding of computer networks, industrial control-system cybersecurity, and safety instrumented systems.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to present complex topics to varied audiences.
