Process & Controls Engineer (Automation)

Location: On-site in Belle, West Virginia, United States; participation in an on-call support rotation is required.

Annual pay range: $85,801–$134,064 USD. Annual bonus target: 6%.

What you will do

• Support daily operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of DCS, PLC, SIS, instrumentation, and related automation networks.
• Configure, test, and maintain control logic, graphics, and control schemes under the guidance of experienced engineers.
• Assist with commissioning and startup of instrumentation and control system modifications.
• Support Management of Change processes, alarm management, control performance monitoring, and process historian analysis.
• Participate in process upset and control system investigations, corrective actions, and off-hours troubleshooting rotations.
• Provide automation support for small capital and expense projects while maintaining documentation, backups, patching, antivirus updates, and inventory records.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Electrical, Controls, Automation, or related Engineering from an ABET-accredited program, or equivalent experience.
• 0–5 years of experience in manufacturing, industrial automation, process control, or related engineering roles; internships and co-ops count.
• Fundamental understanding of process control, instrumentation, and industrial automation systems.
• Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and collaborate effectively in a team-based plant environment.
• Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
• Willingness to work on-site in Belle, West Virginia, and participate in an on-call support rotation.

Nice to have

• Academic or professional experience with DCS, PLC, or SIS platforms.
• Experience in chemical, industrial, or continuous process manufacturing.
• Familiarity with Honeywell Experion, Allen-Bradley ControlLogix, Modicon PLCs, or process historians such as Aspen InfoPlus.21 and SEEQ.
• Coursework or experience in process safety, alarm management, or control system lifecycle management.
