Senior Backend Engineer (AI)

What you will do

• Design and evolve the workflow definition model, including control flow, fan-out, and conditional execution.
• Build the engine for durable execution, ensuring checkpointing, resumption after failure, and idempotency.
• Instrument complex runs across services to attribute latency and token spend to individual steps.
• Integrate LLMs with structured outputs, guardrails, and citation integrity.
• Lead technical architecture, write design proposals, and own the implementation of critical components in production.

Requirements

• Significant backend engineering experience in TypeScript and Node.js.
• Experience building and operating LLM-backed systems in production.
• Strong background in designing and operating distributed systems.
• Practical experience with idempotency, at-least-once delivery, and safe retries.
• Solid understanding of relational databases and schema design.
• Ability to produce clear technical design documentation.

Nice to have

• Experience with workflow engines like Restate, Temporal, or Inngest.
• Proficiency in Python and LLM frameworks such as LangChain or LangGraph.
• Knowledge of observability tools like OpenTelemetry, Langfuse, or Datadog.
• Experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform, Kubernetes).
