Laser/Vision Systems Operator - Metrology Analyst

Location: Torrance, California, United States; onsite shop-floor and metrology lab work required

What you will do

• Set up and operate laser scanners, laser trackers, CMMs, and machine vision inspection systems for precision components.
• Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and inspection plans to select appropriate measurement methods.
• Collect, analyze, and report dimensional inspection data, flag non-conformances, and support root-cause investigations.
• Maintain and calibrate metrology equipment and keep inspection records, certifications, and quality documentation accurate.
• Develop and refine inspection programs and routines for new parts and vision-system fixtures.
• Partner with Manufacturing and Engineering to resolve quality issues and improve inspection processes.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in dimensional inspection, metrology, or manufacturing quality control.
• Hands-on experience with laser scanning, laser trackers, CMMs, or machine vision inspection systems.
• Ability to read engineering drawings, GD&T, and inspection plans.
• Proficiency with micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and metrology software.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States as a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident.
• Ability to lift up to 35 lbs and work onsite in a shop-floor or metrology lab environment while using appropriate PPE.

Nice to have

• Experience with FARO, Leica, or Surphaser laser trackers and Verisurf or PolyWorks software.
• Experience scanning large items or parts still on CNC machines using mobile metrology equipment.
• Experience programming or operating machine vision inspection systems.
• ASQ Certified Quality Technician certification or equivalent.
• Experience in nuclear, aerospace, or other highly regulated quality environments.
• Familiarity with SPC and GR&R studies.
