TL;DR
Supt, Trade Compliance (Mexican Foreign Trade/Manufacturing): Ensuring compliant import and export operations in Mexico with an accent on customs regulations, IMMEX and VAT-IEPS certification, inventory controls, and regulatory reporting. Focus on leading audits, maintaining foreign trade systems, coaching the Import/Export team, and driving continuous improvement across manufacturing operations.

What you will do
- Ensure import and export operations comply with Mexican and international customs, trade, and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee tariff classification, duties, taxes, customs procedures, import/export declarations, and foreign trade systems.
- Maintain the IMMEX Program, VAT-IEPS Certification (CIVA), Annex 24, Annex 30, Annex 31, Regla Octava, and related inventory compliance controls.
- Prepare and submit reports for customs authorities and government agencies, including SAT, INEGI, COFEPRIS, SAGARPA, Secretaría de Economía, FDA, and U.S. Customs.
- Lead internal and external audits, compliance projects, corrective actions, process optimization, and cost-reduction initiatives.
- Develop, coach, and manage the Import/Export team while partnering with Planning, Procurement, Customer Service, Operations, and Global Trade Compliance.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in International Trade, Economics, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience in manufacturing operations, import/export management, trade compliance, or supply chain functions.
- Extensive knowledge of Mexican Foreign Trade regulations, IMMEX, VAT-IEPS Certification (CIVA), Annex 24, Annex 31, and customs compliance programs.
- Experience with ERP systems, preferably SAP, customs reporting systems, inventory control, government audits, and compliance certifications.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies, with strong analytical, organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Intermediate to advanced English proficiency, written and verbal.
Nice to have
- Experience with FDA, COFEPRIS, OEA, and related regulatory requirements.
- Knowledge of A3, Ishikawa, and Root Cause Analysis methodologies.
- Project management and team leadership experience.
