TL;DR
Lead Automation Engineer (DeltaV): Designing, commissioning, and improving automation and electrical systems for custom engineering projects in biopharmaceutical and related manufacturing environments with an accent on DeltaV DCS, PLC/SCADA systems, electrical design, and regulatory compliance. Focus on developing control logic, coordinating electrical partners, supporting Pre-FAT, FAT, and SAT activities, and troubleshooting systems at customer and supplier sites.

Location: Shanghai, China; travel to customer and supplier sites is required.

What you will do

  • Lead automation activities during project bidding, including URS responses, automation and electrical proposals, cost analysis, and demonstrations.
  • Design, review, test, commission, and start up automation control systems in line with quality, safety, regulatory, and efficiency requirements.
  • Manage external partners delivering electrical designs, component selection, wiring, cable duct installation, inspections, and approvals.
  • Prepare and review automation and electrical documentation, including schematics, HDS, and SDS documents.
  • Support Pre-FAT, FAT, and SAT activities covering automation control, software, instrumentation, and electrical systems.
  • Standardize and continuously improve automation software, electrical designs, design standards, troubleshooting, retrofits, and software upgrades.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in automation or electrical engineering.
  • Expertise in Emerson DeltaV software and hardware configuration, programming, control modules, equipment modules, batch systems, HMI/graphics, alarm systems, and commissioning.
  • Experience with mainstream PLC and SCADA systems, including Siemens PLC, TIA Portal, and Simatic WinCC.
  • Experience with VFDs, servo controllers, industrial process instruments, field buses, and electrical component selection.
  • Experience designing electrical drawings using AutoCAD or EPLAN, estimating automation and electrical costs, and troubleshooting related problems.
  • Knowledge of GAMP 5, ISA88, 21 CFR Part 11, and GMP; experience in pharma or biotech is preferred, with food, beverage, or cosmetics experience also relevant.
