Factory Automation Engineer (PLC/SCADA)

Location: Wuxi, Jiangsu Province, China; onsite at the hirify.global Switchgears plant.

What you will do

• Design, program, and optimize PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems for automated switchgear manufacturing and testing.
• Lead the deployment, commissioning, and integration of automated production lines, robotic cells, and industrial networks.
• Develop electrical schematics, system architectures, and technical specifications.
• Integrate shop-floor equipment with MES and IT systems.
• Troubleshoot complex automation and control systems and support maintenance to improve uptime and reliability.
• Drive Industry 4.0 improvements, implement data-driven automation solutions, and mentor technicians and engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
• 5–8 years of factory automation engineering experience, preferably in electrical equipment, switchgear, or heavy machinery manufacturing.
• Experience leading automation projects from concept and design through commissioning, with strong project management skills.
• Expertise in PLC/SCADA, data acquisition, Industrial IoT, OT cybersecurity fundamentals, root cause analysis, and Lean or Six Sigma continuous improvement.
• English communication skills, strong cross-functional collaboration, stakeholder management, presentation skills, and a self-driven approach.
• Willingness to travel domestically up to 10%.
