TL;DR
CAD/EDA Tools Automation Engineer (EDA): Developing and maintaining software tools, automation flows, and methodologies for hardware design, physical design, place-and-route, DRC verification, and manufacturing workflows with an accent on Python, Tcl, C++, Linux, and EDA infrastructure. Focus on building distributed job-management tools, automating build and deployment pipelines, and validating scalable design automation solutions through unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.

Location: Hillsboro, Oregon, United States; hybrid work model with time split between the assigned Intel site and off-site work.

Annual salary: $111,030–$211,200 USD.

What you will do

  • Design, develop, test, and debug software tools, automation flows, and methodologies for hardware design and manufacturing.
  • Capture internal user stories and requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Develop functional and test code, including unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.
  • Build and maintain scripts and automation frameworks for physical design, place and route, and DRC verification.
  • Automate build and deployment pipelines and develop job-management tools for distributed computing systems.
  • Support CAD software administration, EDA tool deployment, process standardization, documentation, and code reviews.

Requirements

  • Master of Science degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related STEM field by the date of hire.
  • At least 6 months of experience with Python, Tcl, or C++ programming and scripting.
  • Experience with Linux environments, version management systems, and EDA tools.
  • Ability to collaborate with hardware design, process design, and manufacturing teams.

Nice to have

  • Ph.D. degree in a relevant STEM field.
  • Experience with Cadence Virtuoso, Synopsys ICV, or Siemens Calibre.
  • Experience with physical design, place-and-route scripts, DRC verification, distributed job-management tools, CAD administration, and deployment.
