Senior Platform Engineer (Compute Migration) (Kubernetes)

Location: San Francisco, California; hybrid

Base salary: $180,000–$215,000 per year, plus bonus and equity.

What you will do

• Define the technical roadmap, migration patterns, and reference architectures for moving AWS Lambda functions and ECS services to Kubernetes on AWS EKS.
• Design and implement automated, scalable solutions for event-driven and serverless-like workflows on Kubernetes.
• Build Kubernetes infrastructure, networking, and deployment tooling with Terraform, Terragrunt, and Helm.
• Partner with engineering teams on workload assessment, re-platforming practices, standardized migration tools, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Benchmark migrated services, optimize resource requests and limits, and improve monitoring, logging, tracing, performance, cost, reliability, and security.
• Establish operational guardrails, best practices, and documentation for event-based compute on Kubernetes.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in Platform, Infrastructure, or DevOps Engineering, including large-scale compute migrations.
• Expert-level Kubernetes skills across design, deployment, operations, networking, security, and scaling.
• Hands-on experience with AWS Lambda and ECS/Fargate, including their operational models and scaling behavior.
• Experience migrating production workloads from VMs, Lambda, or ECS to Kubernetes.
• Strong Infrastructure as Code experience with Terraform, plus Docker and modern CI/CD practices.
• Excellent communication, documentation, consultation, and technical leadership skills across multiple teams.

Nice to have

• Experience with KEDA or similar event-driven Kubernetes scaling solutions.
• Experience working in or migrating to a monorepo.
• Experience driving complex, multi-quarter technical initiatives.
• Python or Go experience for tooling development and automation.
