Staff Software Engineer (TypeScript/Node.js)

hirify.global provides grading, authentication, vaulting, and marketplace services for trading cards, comics, coins, video games, tickets, and other collectibles through brands including Beckett, PSA, PCGS, SGC, and Card Ladder.

What you will do

• Own the end-to-end architecture of services, data flows, integrations, and failure modes across Beckett’s platform.
• Design scalable service boundaries, contracts, data ownership models, and migration paths.
• Lead modernization initiatives, including strangler-pattern extraction from PHP monoliths and Java-to-TypeScript service replacements.
• Coordinate multi-engineer projects spanning one to two quarters, managing stakeholders, dependencies, prioritization, and risks.
• Set standards for security, testing, observability, documentation, incident response, and operational excellence.
• Lead adoption of AI-assisted engineering tools, workflows, guardrails, and agent-based modernization practices.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience and technical leadership of multi-engineer, multi-quarter projects.
• Expert backend engineering with TypeScript/Node.js and/or Java, with experience across polyglot systems including PHP, Python, and C#.
• Production full-stack experience with React/Next.js, APIs and services, relational databases, and infrastructure.
• Experience modernizing legacy systems under live traffic, including service extraction and platform re-architecture.
• Deep PostgreSQL and MySQL expertise, plus distributed-systems experience with REST, GraphQL, gRPC, SQS, idempotency, and failure handling.
• Production AWS experience and infrastructure-as-code skills are required; candidates must be able to work legally in the United States.

Nice to have

• Frontend architecture at scale, micro-frontends, design systems, performance budgets, or React Native/Expo.
• Experience with e-commerce, marketplaces, payments, or high-traffic consumer platforms.
• Snowflake, ETL pipelines, dimensional modeling, applied ML, or computer vision experience.
• Experience shipping LLM-powered features, retrieval-augmented generation, evaluations, or agent frameworks.
• Interest in sports cards, gaming, or collectibles.
