TL;DR
Manager, Hardware System Safety (Space Hardware): Leading a hardware system safety engineering team supporting complex space infrastructure and technology systems with an accent on technical direction, safety requirements, risk management, and delivery accountability. Focus on resolving complex hardware challenges, governing CDISS/CLD compliance, developing engineering talent, and managing resources across the organization.

Location: Houston, United States. The role is generally office-based and may involve inside or outside work depending on the task.

What you will do

  • Lead the Hardware System Safety engineering team, setting technical direction, architecture strategy, and development priorities.
  • Own hardware system safety deliverables and ensure quality, scalability, security, and compliance with CDISS/CLD requirements.
  • Oversee Agile delivery, sprint planning, project lifecycle management, and progress reporting.
  • Resolve complex technical challenges, make system architecture decisions, and manage hardware risks.
  • Develop budgets, resource plans, staffing strategies, recruitment plans, and long-term workforce planning.
  • Manage performance, career development, mentoring, and technical growth while partnering with product, QA, and executive leadership.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of Hardware System Safety engineering experience and 3+ years of formal team management experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
  • Experience delivering high-quality results in ambiguous, fast-moving environments and meeting tight deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving, organization, collaboration, accountability, technical rigor, and execution discipline.
  • Must pass any required U.S. export control screening to access technology or technical data regulated by NASA, ITAR, or EAR; this is a condition of employment.
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends when needed to meet critical project milestones.
