TL;DR
Senior Manager, Systems Engineering (eVTOL): Leading system-level requirements, architecture, integration, verification, and validation for electric VTOL aircraft with an accent on multidisciplinary technical leadership, requirements traceability, and aircraft-level V&V. Focus on integrating hardware and software subsystems, resolving interface and safety challenges, and preparing aircraft for ground and flight testing.

Location: On-site at the headquarters in Palo Alto, California; applicants must be eligible for employment in the United States.

What you will do

  • Lead and mentor the Systems Engineering team across requirements, systems integration, and verification activities.
  • Own aircraft and subsystem requirements management in JAMA, including decomposition, allocation, traceability, baselines, change management, and verification closure.
  • Lead aircraft-level verification and validation plans, compliance matrices, test requirements, and verification reports.
  • Define system architecture, functional allocation, subsystem interfaces, and Interface Control Documents.
  • Drive technical integration across GNC, embedded software, electrical, battery, propulsion, aeromechanical, manufacturing, and flight-test teams.
  • Support technical reviews, aircraft bring-up, troubleshooting, ground testing, and flight-test readiness while embedding system safety and failure behavior into development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in aerospace, mechanical, electrical, computer, or systems engineering, computer science, or a related technical field.
  • 10+ years of engineering experience developing complex multidisciplinary systems, with technical leadership or people-management experience.
  • Strong experience with requirements development, decomposition, allocation, traceability, and verification; experience with JAMA, DOORS, Polarion, Codebeamer, or similar tools.
  • Experience developing system architectures, managing subsystem interfaces and ICDs, and integrating complex hardware and software systems through test and release.
  • Technical depth in at least one relevant discipline, such as aircraft design, mechanical or electrical systems, embedded software, controls/GNC, autonomy, propulsion, or system integration and test.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to lead and influence cross-functional technical teams.

Nice to have

  • Experience with aerospace, spacecraft, robotics, autonomous vehicles, or other safety-critical electromechanical products.
  • Experience with HIL/SIL, aircraft ground testing, flight testing, system safety, or structured aerospace development processes.
