Hardware Engineering Manager II (Aerospace)

Location: Wichita, Kansas, United States; office or hybrid work required. Travel may be required up to 10% of the time. U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance are required.

What you will do

• Lead engineering discipline teams and enhance performance through technical leadership, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration.
• Support staffing plans, schedules, budgets, bids, estimates, and risk mitigation for program work packages.
• Manage engineering resource allocation and identify risks, issues, challenges, tools, process needs, and training requirements.
• Lead the development, maturation, and approval of product-level designs, including electrical systems and hardware integration.
• Recruit, onboard, mentor, evaluate, and support the career development of engineering staff.
• Drive process improvements, compliance with standards, conflict resolution, and successful project outcomes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline.
• Typically 8 or more years of progressive engineering experience, including 4 or more years of management experience.
• Experience leading large systems design and development teams and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Knowledge of electrical systems design, hardware integration, mechanical design principles, engineering practices, and computer-aided engineering tools.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to understand technical documents, schematics, and electronic measurements.
• U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance are required.

Nice to have

• Experience in aerospace and defense, the U.S. Department of Defense, or the U.S. military.
• Experience with reverse engineering, rapid prototyping, and fielding capabilities.
• Experience preparing project schedules, budgets, bids, and estimates.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Project and CATIA 3DEXPERIENCE.
• Prior experience recruiting, assigning, directing, and evaluating engineering staff.
