Staff Engineer (Power Generation (Turbines))

What you will do

• Lead engineering initiatives covering design, construction, upgrades, performance testing, and root cause analysis.
• Serve as a technical subject-matter expert for gas turbines, reciprocating engines, rotating equipment, and generator systems rated at 5MW or more.
• Analyze multi-OEM equipment, including vibration, transient loading, protection systems, controls, and overall equipment health.
• Improve reliability, performance, lifecycle outcomes, safety, and operational efficiency across power generation assets.
• Lead technical and economic evaluations and influence project scope, design, and business decisions.
• Develop engineering standards and best practices while leading cross-functional projects and advising leadership.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university.
• At least 15 years of engineering experience, including 15+ years in power generation, energy, or a related industry.
• Deep expertise in rotating equipment and generator systems.
• Advanced knowledge of gas turbines, reciprocating engines, generator controls, equipment diagnostics, vibration, transient response, and protection systems.
• Ability to influence technical decisions, advise leadership, work independently, and provide technical mentorship.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university.
• Professional Engineer license.
• Executive Master of Business Administration.
• Experience leading large-scale projects or programs.
