Systems Security Engineering Intern (Aerospace and Defense)

Location: Hagerstown, Maryland, United States. Onsite work in laboratory or workshop environments may involve loud noise or hazardous conditions, and travel may be required. U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance are required.

Estimated starting salary: $16.48–$28.84 per hour, depending on skills, experience, education, training, certifications, and geographic differential.

What you will do

• Contribute to real-world engineering projects and complete assigned technical tasks.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation, reports, and records.
• Collect, analyze, and interpret technical data to support engineering decisions.
• Attend planning meetings and support project requirements, timelines, and team objectives.
• Perform hands-on technical work and identify opportunities for process improvements.
• Collaborate with experienced engineers through mentoring, workshops, and cross-functional project work.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a university, college, or technical school program pursuing Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical degree.
• Must be a sophomore, junior, or senior with at least six months remaining until graduation after the internship ends.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and collaboration skills.
• Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
• U.S. citizenship and eligibility to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance.
• Ability to work at a computer for extended periods, handle tools and technical equipment, and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.

Nice to have

• Previous technical or engineering internship experience.
• Familiarity with the aerospace and defense industry.
• Basic knowledge of engineering software such as CAD or MATLAB.
• Microsoft Access skills.
