Controller (Fintech)

Location: Remote, United States; remote employees visit the headquarters in Durham, North Carolina.

hirify.global provides an open payments platform that connects merchants with payment gateways, processors, fraud tools, and alternative payment methods through a single API.

What you will do

• Lead the accounting function and ensure accurate books and a timely, consistent close.
• Oversee financial statements, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, revenue recognition, treasury, tax, and audit.
• Own and improve the NetSuite, Orb, and Ramp systems stack, maintaining data integrity across integrations.
• Implement practical systems automation and AI-enabled workflows to reduce manual accounting work.
• Build scalable processes and controls, including SOC 2 and audit readiness.
• Lead and develop the accounting team and partner with FP&A, Legal, Revenue Operations, Business Operations, Sales, and external advisors.

Requirements

• Active CPA certification.
• Accounting leadership and people-management experience with ownership of a broad accounting function.
• SaaS accounting experience and strong knowledge of close management, financial reporting, revenue recognition, ASC 606, and core accounting operations.
• Demonstrated success implementing systems and process automation.
• Hands-on experience using AI tools such as Claude or Gemini, or AI-enabled workflows, to improve accounting operations.
• Ability to operate autonomously and collaborate effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to have

• Experience in fintech or payments and with usage-based or consumption-based business models.
• Experience in a startup, SMB, or mid-market environment with broad accounting ownership.
• Big Four experience combined with hands-on ownership of accounting systems, processes, or team development.
• Experience with Orb, Chargebee, Ramp, or similar billing and spend-management platforms.
