Assistant Controller (Fintech)

Location: Chicago, IL; work format ranges from fully remote to hybrid.

Base salary: $170,000–$200,000 annually, plus eligibility for a performance-based bonus.

hirify.global operates a trading and subscription-based fintech business with high-volume payment, revenue, and payout processes.

What you will do

• Lead and develop the general ledger and revenue accounting team, setting priorities and reviewing deliverables.
• Own the month-end close calendar, balance sheet reconciliations, journal entry review, and audit-ready supporting schedules.
• Oversee revenue recognition, deferred revenue, subscriptions, resets, promotions, chargebacks, refunds, and payout accounting.
• Resolve discrepancies across NetSuite, payment processors, the trading platform, Sigma/Snowflake extracts, and bank data.
• Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting, external audits, and regulatory compliance.
• Design and improve internal controls, accounting policies, procedures, systems, and reconciliation automation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• CPA designation required or strongly preferred.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting and finance leadership experience, including 2+ years managing accounting teams.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, ASC 606, and financial reporting requirements.
• Experience with external audits and relationships with auditors, regulators, and financial institutions.
• Strong ERP experience, preferably NetSuite or a similar enterprise accounting platform, plus the ability to manage high-volume reconciliations and explain technical accounting clearly.

Nice to have

• Experience in fintech, trading, payments, or subscription-based businesses.
• Experience with multi-processor payout and clearing account reconciliations.
• Experience with reconciliation automation tools and outside accounting or tax advisors.
