Senior Device Engineer (IoT)

Location: San Diego, California; office presence required 4 days per week

Base salary: $150,000–$165,000 USD annually

What you will do

• Design, implement, and test embedded software for camera platforms using ARM processors, microcontrollers, and SoCs.
• Develop firmware and hardware abstraction layers for sensors, communication modules, and peripherals.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers on board bring-up, camera performance optimization, power management, driver integration, and troubleshooting.
• Optimize software for performance, reliability, and resource usage, and develop unit and integration tests.
• Debug embedded systems using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and emulators; document technical designs and development processes.
• Work with cloud software teams, product managers, quality engineers, production, QA, and field teams on device-to-cloud connectivity, requirements, system testing, and issue resolution.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 5–10 years of embedded software development experience with Embedded Linux platforms.
• Professional C++ experience and familiarity with RTOS platforms such as FreeRTOS or ThreadX, plus bare-metal programming.
• Experience with embedded systems, hardware interfaces including UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, and Ethernet, as well as build systems and firmware upgrade mechanisms.
• Knowledge of Bluetooth, BLE, Wi-Fi, LoRa, security, low-level debugging, and source control systems such as Git.
• Sponsorship of new applicants for employment authorization and other immigration-related support is not available.

Nice to have

• Experience with camera and home security products.
• Experience with the Linux kernel and device drivers.
• Experience leading embedded device development.
