R&D Embedded Systems Software Engineer (C/C++)

Location: Hybrid role in Wilmington, Delaware, United States

Salary: $116,800–$182,500 per year, plus eligibility for bonus, stock, and benefits.

What you will do

• Gather requirements and design, develop, and test embedded software applications, libraries, and tools.
• Deliver real-time control for hardware and embedded systems.
• Develop software for gas chromatography, automated sample handling, and automated sample preparation products.
• Collaborate with software, firmware, mechanical, electrical, and chemistry teams to integrate software into complete products.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field.
• 4+ years of programming experience in one or more languages, including C or C++.
• Hands-on experience with real-time hardware control and embedded systems.
• Experience developing bare-metal applications for microprocessors or microcontrollers.
• Experience with device communication standards and protocols, including TCP/IP, RS-232, and RS-485.
• Knowledge of algorithms, data structures, and effective teamwork.

Nice to have

• Experience with Git, ClearCase, or other revision control and source code management tools.
• Development for Linux and integration of third-party software, libraries, and tools.
• Additional programming languages such as assembly, Python, Rust, or C#.
• Experience with .NET, Visual Studio, SQL, GUI development, FPGA development, or Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
