Professional Counselor I

Location: Kingsville, Texas, United States. Primarily weekday business hours with required occasional evening and weekend work, including an after-hours crisis intervention on-call rotation.

What you will do

• Provide personal, academic, career, alcohol, and other drug counseling to individuals, couples, and groups.
• Conduct clinical assessments, administer psychological tests, maintain records, and manage referrals.
• Respond to urgent student mental health concerns through crisis intervention and an after-hours on-call rotation.
• Develop and deliver psychoeducational programs, workshops, trainings, presentations, and wellness initiatives.
• Collaborate with students, faculty, staff, campus departments, and community partners on student support services.
• Assist with practicum student mentorship, research, assessment, program evaluation, and departmental operations.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Counseling and Guidance, Social Work, Counseling, Clinical Psychology, or a related specialty.
• Practical or field placement experience relevant to college counseling, or supervised counseling experience.
• Passed the National Counselor Examination (NCE).
• Eligible for LPC-Associate, LPC, LMFT, LMSW, or LCSW and able to maintain licensure for continued employment.
• Clinical competency in multicultural counseling, ethical principles, and applicable state laws.
• Export-control authorization is required before employment begins; the position is security sensitive and requires a criminal history investigation.

Nice to have

• Two or more years of postgraduate clinical experience in a university or college counseling center.
• Experience with crisis intervention, after-hours or on-call rotations, outreach, psychoeducation, and wellness programming.
• Experience supporting first-generation students, veterans, and historically underrepresented groups.
