Medical Lab Scientist I or Medical Lab Scientist II-Core Lab Evening Shift (Medical Laboratory Science)

Location: Memphis, Tennessee, United States. Full-time evening shift, Tuesday–Saturday, 2:30 p.m.–11:00 p.m.; holiday rotation required.

Salary: $31.50–$55.00 per hour, depending on experience, training, licensure, certifications, and organizational needs.

What you will do

• Perform, validate, interpret, and report laboratory test results supporting diagnosis, treatment, prognosis, and research.
• Execute test life-cycle activities, including specimen handling, storage, distribution, and tissue governance.
• Perform quality control, equipment calibration, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and assay validation.
• Document procedures, results, quality data, inventory, compliance activities, and equipment usage.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals and provide technical support within the assigned laboratory section.
• Participate in laboratory research and development and continuous quality improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in medical technology, medical laboratory science, or a biological, chemical, or physical science, plus completion of an approved medical laboratory training program.
• For Medical Lab Scientist I: clinical rotation or medical laboratory training experience is required; laboratory work experience is preferred.
• For Medical Lab Scientist II: 4+ years of medical laboratory experience are required, or 2+ years with a master’s degree in Clinical Lab Science.
• Experience with laboratory equipment operations, medical technology techniques, specialized laboratory testing, data analysis, and cross-functional collaboration is required for Scientist II.
• Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Technologist from an approved organization, such as ASCP, AMT, NRCC, ABB, or ASCPi, is required within six months of hire if not licensed in Tennessee.
• Acceptable credentials include MLS, MT-General, laboratory supervisor, special analyst, or categorical technologist licenses applicable to the assigned laboratory section.

Nice to have

• Medical laboratory work experience for Scientist I.
• Master’s degree in Clinical Lab Science for Scientist II.
