TL;DR
Program Manager-Emergency Prep Planning (Emergency Management): Developing and maintaining emergency response plans across Avangrid companies with an accent on deliberate planning, compliance, training, and cross-functional facilitation. Focus on updating plans through exercises and real-world lessons learned, managing multiple projects and budgets, and supporting emergency response operations outside normal business hours.

Location: Office-based in Orange or East Hartford, Connecticut, United States. The role requires travel across hirify.global companies as needed and on-call availability for emergencies, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Salary: $128,000–$160,000 annually, plus up to 16% bonus.

What you will do

  • Develop and maintain emergency response plans that support training, exercises, real-world events, and external compliance requirements.
  • Lead deliberate planning processes using the FEMA Comprehensive Planning Guide or a similar standard.
  • Coordinate with training, exercise, and emergency operations staff to evaluate plans and implement lessons learned and corrective actions.
  • Facilitate cross-functional workshops, planning sessions, and stakeholder discussions.
  • Manage multiple projects, program budgets, contracts, expenses, inventories, and plan maintenance schedules.
  • Prepare clear communications and presentations for technical audiences, stakeholders, and executive leadership while supporting emergency response operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with at least 7 years of experience, or an associate’s degree with at least 10 years of experience.
  • At least 7 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience facilitating cross-functional teams through a planning process.
  • Strong project management, organizational, verbal communication, written communication, and facilitation skills.
  • Availability for on-call emergency response outside normal business hours and travel as needed.
  • Ability to work in the United States in an office-based role in Connecticut.

Nice to have

  • Emergency management experience in a utility or critical infrastructure setting.
  • Master’s degree in planning or emergency management.
  • Experience using the FEMA Comprehensive Planning Guide.
  • ICS 700, 100, 200, 300, and 400 coursework or Incident Command System command and general staff qualifications.
  • Experience with FEMA, NIMS, ICS, utility regulatory environments, or National Standards for Emergency Management.
