Associate Actuary (Health Insurance)

Location: Hybrid role based at the Renton, Washington office, with 3 days per week in the office. Local or out-of-state travel may be required, and work outside normal business hours may occasionally be necessary.

Salary: $104,000–$110,000 expected hiring range; full salary range of $104,000–$171,000, plus a 15% bonus target.

What you will do

• Develop actuarial methodologies, assumptions, certifications, and process improvements.
• Perform technical analysis, reporting, peer review, and quality assurance in accordance with Actuarial Standards of Practice.
• Interpret business requirements and create design specifications, configurations, and program solutions.
• Write, test, debug, and enhance code and systems using approved technologies.
• Present results and prepare responses to complex customer and regulatory questions.
• Create project workplans and documentation while managing work and actuarial study time.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, actuarial science, statistics, economics, computer science, or a related discipline, plus at least four years of progressively responsible actuarial experience or an equivalent combination.
• Completed or in-progress Society of Actuaries Associateship requirements with equivalent actuarial experience.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of insurance company functions, operations, and data, with familiarity with relational databases and client-server concepts.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, ETL, SQL coding, reporting tools, system configuration, testing, and debugging.
• Ability to work in the Renton office 3 days per week.
