What you will do

• Prepare compounded medications and prescriptions for animal consumption under the supervision and approval of a licensed pharmacist.
• Read and interpret veterinarian orders and transcribe them into pharmacy medication profiles.
• Follow pharmacy laws, departmental procedures, and accepted standards of practice.
• Maintain quality control in work areas and remove outdated medications while keeping appropriate records.
• Operate pharmacy computer systems and collaborate professionally with colleagues and other contacts.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Registration as a pharmacy technician with the applicable state or states.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and use a calculator accurately.
• Ability to read and apply regulations and laws, retain information, communicate professionally, and work effectively in a team.
• Ability to read computer screens, stand and walk for extended periods, operate computer and telephone equipment, and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.

Nice to have

• Previous pharmacy technician experience.
• CPhT certification.
• Knowledge of mail-order pharmacy and basic compounding principles, theories, laws, policies, and procedures.
