Class A Machinist (CNC)

Location: Los Alamos, New Mexico, United States — onsite

What you will do

• Set up and operate CNC and manual machining equipment to manufacture precision components.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, tolerances, and work instructions.
• Select and install tooling, fixtures, and workholding, and verify programs, offsets, and setup requirements.
• Perform in-process inspections using micrometers, calipers, indicators, height gauges, and other precision equipment.
• Troubleshoot machining and quality issues, communicate concerns to supervision and Quality Assurance, and complete production records.
• Maintain equipment and work areas, follow safety and quality procedures, and guide less-experienced machinists when needed.

Requirements

• Previous experience as a Class A, senior, or highly experienced machinist in a precision manufacturing environment.
• Strong CNC machining and independent setup experience.
• Knowledge of machining processes, cutting tools, speeds, feeds, and tooling selection.
• Ability to read complex engineering drawings and specifications, including GD&T and dimensional tolerances.
• Proficiency with precision measuring and inspection equipment, plus the ability to troubleshoot tooling and setup issues.
• Strong attention to detail, dependable attendance, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice to have

• Experience with CNC lathes and mills, multi-axis machining, CNC programming, and CAD/CAM software.
• Experience producing complex components or working under controlled quality management systems and stringent customer, nuclear, government, or other regulated requirements.
