Head of Transportation (Waste and Environmental Services)

Location: Florham Park, New Jersey, USA; remote or hybrid work from other locations is possible, with locations near regional hubs preferred.

Salary: $160,684–$239,151 USD per year.

What you will do

• Set and execute enterprise fleet strategy, governance, and continuous improvement across all regions.
• Develop a fleet reliability program and deploy a transportation management system for route optimization and dispatch.
• Own DOT and FMCSA compliance, transportation safety performance, driver qualification, inspections, and recordkeeping.
• Lead fleet acquisition, third-party maintenance, 3PL strategy, supplier partnerships, and total cost of ownership optimization.
• Direct fleet replacement strategy, capital planning, budgeting, forecasting, telematics, GPS tracking, and route optimization initiatives.
• Partner with regional transportation, operations, sustainability, EHS, procurement, and customer service teams to improve productivity and reduce the fleet carbon footprint.

Requirements

• At least 10 years of experience in transportation, logistics, or fleet management, including at least 5 years in a leadership role.
• Experience in waste management, recycling, or another logistics-intensive industry is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations, fleet maintenance, and transportation safety practices.
• Experience managing large, multi-site teams and improving fleet efficiency, emissions, and fuel economy.
• Experience with fleet management software, telematics, route optimization tools, budgeting, and P&L management.
• A bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field is preferred.

• Experience with clean transportation technologies, including CNG, electric, or hybrid vehicles.
