Utility Operator

What you will do

• Operate bottom ash transfer conveyors, ash silos, fly ash transfer screws, pugmills, ferrous magnets, ECS conveyors, and associated equipment.
• Perform daily equipment inspections and complete operating logs.
• Participate in boiler cleanings and maintain clean, orderly work areas around ash removal and conditioning equipment.
• Perform lockout/tagout procedures to support maintenance activities.
• Complete scheduled Operator Qualifications Standards.
• Drive mobile equipment, including forklifts.

Requirements

• GED or high school diploma preferred; a fully funded GED program is available for employees.
• Three to six months of related experience or training preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret technical procedures, operating instructions, maintenance instructions, and other manuals.
• Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and other employees.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and wear required PPE, including a negative-pressure respirator in accordance with OSHA requirements.
• Ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, and required overtime.

Nice to have

• Forklift driving experience.
• Formal technical or apprentice training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
