Engineer Associate - Engineer Sr (Protection and Controls P&C Engineer)

Salary: $84,000 for Engineer Associate; $86,000–$105,000 for Engineer; $98,993–$124,940 for Engineer Sr. Compensation range: $74,551–$128,688.

What you will do

• Perform and review relay protection and control engineering for 4kV–765kV electrical substation projects.
• Prepare and review protection and control scopes, designs, settings, calculation sheets, setting files, and related deliverables.
• Perform area protection studies, transmission impedance modeling, and short-circuit fault studies.
• Prepare and review documentation required by NERC protection and control standards, including PRC-023 and FAC-008.
• Provide engineering support for installation, commissioning, checkout, troubleshooting, and technical interfaces with operations, telecommunications, planning, and project management.
• Coordinate with customers, interconnected companies, contractors, regulatory authorities, and outsourced engineering providers while supporting schedules, resources, and cost control.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program; engineering technology degrees require a certified Professional Engineering license.
• Engineer Associate: entry-level/new graduate qualification; passing the Fundamentals of Engineering examination is encouraged.
• Engineer: typically two or more years of related engineering experience, or a qualifying master’s degree.
• Engineer Sr: typically four or more years of related engineering experience with a bachelor’s degree, or two years with a master’s degree or PhD.
• Professional Engineer registration in any U.S. state or Puerto Rico is encouraged for the Engineer Sr level.
• On-site availability in Roanoke, Virginia is required.
