Eligibility Verification and Benefit Specialist (Medtech)

Location: Nashville, TN, United States; travel to satellite clinics may be required.

What you will do

• Verify eligibility and benefits for new patients, including hospital patients, before appointments.
• Review electronic verification responses for current and future appointments and identify potential benefit issues.
• Document coverage comments, flag accounts, and notify appropriate staff about reimbursement risks and insurance changes.
• Request initial referrals, enter documentation into patient management systems, and communicate updates to the eligibility team.
• Apply coordination-of-benefits knowledge to identify potential claim issues before patient visits.
• Escalate payer response issues and trends to supervisors and management.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of directly related experience is preferred but not required.
• Proficiency with end-user applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, as well as databases, patient scheduling, and medical information systems.
• Working knowledge of hospice and other payer requirements, clinic office procedures, medical practice, and medical terminology.
• Strong communication, customer service, organization, multitasking, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and travel to satellite clinics when necessary.
